According to a Reuters news report, Russian mobile phone operator VimpelCom announced its plan to establish a new mobile phone joint venture in Vietnam, by the name of GTel Mobile. Partners in this joint venture include a company under the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and US-based Millennium Global Solutions Group. Also, VimpelCom announced an investment of up to US$1 billion, to be made over the next few years, in the development of a GSM (Global System for Mobile communications) mobile network in Vietnam.
